R.S. was given up for adoption in 1950 and asked me to try to unravel the mystery of her birth parents. She was astonished when I discovered that, like herself, her father had been an actor and writer. I was able to show her a somewhat grainy picture of her mother from a newspaper and good photograph of her father. This was the first time she had set eyes on her real parents. I discovered that her father had led an extremely unsavoury life, the subject of which is now a potential biographical media project.
Subsequently, I was able to trace her mother's family and discovered a half brother in London with whom R.S. has corresponded ever since.
